GOVERNOR IKPEAZU PRESEASON TOURNAMENT: PLATEAU UTD STORMS ABA ON FRIDAY; WHILE ENYIMBA PUT FINISHING TOUCHES


Nigeria representatives in the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League Plateau United of Jos are set to become the early birds in the forthcoming Governor Victor Okezie Ikpeazu Preseason Tournament holding at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba from Sunday 15 November as they arrives the Commercial city on Friday. 

The contingent which would comprise of over 40 members team is fully ready to rumble with other teams in the tournament which promises to be glorious for the participating.

Confirming this to newsmen in Umuahia, the Coordinator of the tournament Patrick Ngwaogu said the Tin city team is geared towards using the tournament to put finishing touches to their preparations for the CAF Champions League match holding later in the month.

Also, the country's second representatives in the Champions League, Enyimba International are also putting finishing touches to welcome all comers in the tournament. The Aba Elephants whose stadium will host all the high flying clubs, will also use the tournament to fine tune themselves for their encounter in Kagali, Rwanda.

Meanwhile, Abia Warriors, Rivers United who are participating in the on going Governor Wike Preseason Tournament in Portharcourt will storm Aba immediately after the their matches on Saturday. However, Heartland FC, Rangers International of Enugu among others will arrive Aba before the opening match on Sunday.

Sports Journalists In Aba Honor Finidi George in Post-Afcon Reception.

Members of the Aba Sports Journalists Forum(ASJ)  came out in their numbers to a dinner, to welcome and honour Ex-international and  Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George after the exploits of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoir. The dinner which was hosted by Finidi George, who is also Enyimba's coach had journalists from different media outlets asking Finidi questions about his AFCON experiences, the Super Eagles, Enyimba and his time as a player and other questions on his experience as coach of the current NPFL Champions.  It was a moment to relax, learn and hear from the legend who has won the AFCON Gold, Silver and Bronze medal as player and coach.  The former Ajax winger would be in charge of his first game at Enyimba since returning from the AFCON when Enyimba host Gombe United on Thursday afternoon.

Lagos State FA Chairman Congratulates Manu Garba On His Appointment As Golden Eaglets Coach

  Lagos State Football Association Chairman, Hajji Liameed Olawale Gafar, has congratulated Manu Garba, on his appointment as the new head coach of the Nigeria U17 national football team, the Golden Eaglets.  Manu Garba's first tenure as Eaglets Manager saw him handling footballers such as Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac  Success, Francis Uzoho, Chidiebere Nwakali and Musa Muhammed to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup.   According to Hajji Gafar, he believes that this experience makes Manu Garba the ideal candidate to lead the Golden Eaglets to new heights. The coach who returns for his third stint with the team has been saddled with the responsibility of leading the current crop of players to next month's WAFU B U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
