FEMALE UNDER 21 FOOTBALL SET FOR KICK OFF




All is now set for the kick off the maiden edition of Abia State Female Under 21 Inter Local Government Football Competition on Friday 13th November 2020 at the Umuahia Township Stadium from 11 am.
The wife of the state governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu PhD is expected to perform the ceremonial kick off.

The opening ceremony will also feature March past the 17 competing local government and a novelty football match between a team comprising female special assistants to the governor and wives of TC Chairmen. The commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Mrs Ukachi Amala will be the centre referee while the the permanent secretary of her ministry,Lady Onyinye Nwachukwu will be among those running the lines.
The first official match which be the main event of the day will be between Umuahia North versus Umuahia south
Meanwhile,the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,sir Gabriel Onyendilefu has donated tracksuits to wives of TC Chairmen and female SAs as part of his support for the competition. This is following in the footsteps of Prof Greg Ibeh who donated jerseys to the 17 local government areas.

The commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Chief Emeka George Ikwuagwu, has in a statement lauded the donors for their kind gestures.

Sports Journalists In Aba Honor Finidi George in Post-Afcon Reception.

Members of the Aba Sports Journalists Forum(ASJ)  came out in their numbers to a dinner, to welcome and honour Ex-international and  Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George after the exploits of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoir. The dinner which was hosted by Finidi George, who is also Enyimba's coach had journalists from different media outlets asking Finidi questions about his AFCON experiences, the Super Eagles, Enyimba and his time as a player and other questions on his experience as coach of the current NPFL Champions.  It was a moment to relax, learn and hear from the legend who has won the AFCON Gold, Silver and Bronze medal as player and coach.  The former Ajax winger would be in charge of his first game at Enyimba since returning from the AFCON when Enyimba host Gombe United on Thursday afternoon.

Lagos State FA Chairman Congratulates Manu Garba On His Appointment As Golden Eaglets Coach

  Lagos State Football Association Chairman, Hajji Liameed Olawale Gafar, has congratulated Manu Garba, on his appointment as the new head coach of the Nigeria U17 national football team, the Golden Eaglets.  Manu Garba's first tenure as Eaglets Manager saw him handling footballers such as Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac  Success, Francis Uzoho, Chidiebere Nwakali and Musa Muhammed to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup.   According to Hajji Gafar, he believes that this experience makes Manu Garba the ideal candidate to lead the Golden Eaglets to new heights. The coach who returns for his third stint with the team has been saddled with the responsibility of leading the current crop of players to next month's WAFU B U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
