Football is ‘content Stupid' - Sports Minister


The Minister  of Youth and Sports Development   *Mr. Sunday Dare* has said  football is 'content Stupid' insisting that  Nigerian Football Leagues canot thrive without Contents.

 *Dare* made this assertion  during an inspection tour of  the Surulere National Stadium , Lagos  currently undergoing rehabilitation.
According  to the  Minister, 

"Our football league must be 'Content Stupid'  to develop because football is content stupid. We watch the English Premier League, we are transported to Wembley through the power of television. It is  clear that  our domestic league cannot develop without content. 

"We have agreed with the  NFF and LMC that there must be content in our League. We may not be able to cover or show five or six matches,  but the content must be there. I have received an assurance from the LMC that there would be content. The content might be gradual, but there must be  some clear markers laid down, especially now that stadiums will be empty due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Fans would be able to watch their teams play on television.
 
"Content must return  so that  our apex football league can develop and gain universal recognition", the  Minister concluded. 

The  Sports Ministry and the  LMC have agreed on Sunday, 27th December, 2020  date for the  resumption of  the new NPFL season.

Sports Journalists In Aba Honor Finidi George in Post-Afcon Reception.

Members of the Aba Sports Journalists Forum(ASJ)  came out in their numbers to a dinner, to welcome and honour Ex-international and  Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George after the exploits of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoir. The dinner which was hosted by Finidi George, who is also Enyimba's coach had journalists from different media outlets asking Finidi questions about his AFCON experiences, the Super Eagles, Enyimba and his time as a player and other questions on his experience as coach of the current NPFL Champions.  It was a moment to relax, learn and hear from the legend who has won the AFCON Gold, Silver and Bronze medal as player and coach.  The former Ajax winger would be in charge of his first game at Enyimba since returning from the AFCON when Enyimba host Gombe United on Thursday afternoon.

Lagos State FA Chairman Congratulates Manu Garba On His Appointment As Golden Eaglets Coach

  Lagos State Football Association Chairman, Hajji Liameed Olawale Gafar, has congratulated Manu Garba, on his appointment as the new head coach of the Nigeria U17 national football team, the Golden Eaglets.  Manu Garba's first tenure as Eaglets Manager saw him handling footballers such as Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac  Success, Francis Uzoho, Chidiebere Nwakali and Musa Muhammed to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup.   According to Hajji Gafar, he believes that this experience makes Manu Garba the ideal candidate to lead the Golden Eaglets to new heights. The coach who returns for his third stint with the team has been saddled with the responsibility of leading the current crop of players to next month's WAFU B U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
