Ncheta Emerekpe lauds Ikpeazu's sporting drive

Foremost Abia philanthropist, Ncheta Emerekpe has lauded the sporting drive of the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

Emerekpe made this assertion when the Governor's Cup committee paid him a courtesy visit at his country home in Isialangwa North LGA of Abia State on Sunday 

He said he was pleased with the project being put up by the Ikpeazu administration to help in keeping young and vibrant Abia youths engaged positively.

Emerekpe who is known for his huge humanitarian disposition, called on well meaning Abians to join hands and develop the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Governor's Cup committee, Hon PC Mba said the committee was at the country home of Emerekpe to thank him for the huge impact he has had on the people of the state, while urging him to continue doing more as only God could reward him for his philanthropy.

He thanked Governor Ikpeazu for investing in Abia Youths as the tournament has been able to spot some amazing talents from the few games played so far at the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Governor's Cup tournament which went on Christmas break is set to resume on January 11 with Ohafia, Ugwunagbor, Ukwa East, Arochukwu, Aba South, Ukwa West, Isikwuato and Obingwa all set to battle, with the hope of joining Umuahia South, Umuahia North, Isialangwa North and Umunneochi in the last 8 of the tournament.

Sports Journalists In Aba Honor Finidi George in Post-Afcon Reception.

Members of the Aba Sports Journalists Forum(ASJ)  came out in their numbers to a dinner, to welcome and honour Ex-international and  Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George after the exploits of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoir. The dinner which was hosted by Finidi George, who is also Enyimba's coach had journalists from different media outlets asking Finidi questions about his AFCON experiences, the Super Eagles, Enyimba and his time as a player and other questions on his experience as coach of the current NPFL Champions.  It was a moment to relax, learn and hear from the legend who has won the AFCON Gold, Silver and Bronze medal as player and coach.  The former Ajax winger would be in charge of his first game at Enyimba since returning from the AFCON when Enyimba host Gombe United on Thursday afternoon.

Lagos State FA Chairman Congratulates Manu Garba On His Appointment As Golden Eaglets Coach

  Lagos State Football Association Chairman, Hajji Liameed Olawale Gafar, has congratulated Manu Garba, on his appointment as the new head coach of the Nigeria U17 national football team, the Golden Eaglets.  Manu Garba's first tenure as Eaglets Manager saw him handling footballers such as Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac  Success, Francis Uzoho, Chidiebere Nwakali and Musa Muhammed to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup.   According to Hajji Gafar, he believes that this experience makes Manu Garba the ideal candidate to lead the Golden Eaglets to new heights. The coach who returns for his third stint with the team has been saddled with the responsibility of leading the current crop of players to next month's WAFU B U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
