Abia Governor's Cup:Umuahia North grabs semi final berth, sets up potential explosive tie against Umuahia South

Umuahia North today joined Umuahia South in the last 4 of the ongoing Governor's Cup with a 2-1 win over hard fighting Umunneochi.

An own goal from Kelechi Moses of Umunneochi at the start of the second half cancelled an earlier strike from Umuahia North. 

The game looked destined for a draw until the Umuahia based team struck late on in the 81st minute through the boots of Chiwaza Felix to claim a hard fought victory that saw them through to the semis, leaving an inspiring Umunneochi Team heartbroken.

The win sets up an intriguing semi final bout against their neighbors- Umuahia South who yesterday beat Isialangwa North to make the last 4.

The tournament takes a break this weekend and  resumes on Monday with a potential explosive Quarter final tie between Ohafia and Ukwa East.

The winner progresses to the semifinals and will take on the winner of the last Quarter final tie between Aba South and Isikwuato which is billed for Tuesday, Jan 19, 2021.

Sports Journalists In Aba Honor Finidi George in Post-Afcon Reception.

Members of the Aba Sports Journalists Forum(ASJ)  came out in their numbers to a dinner, to welcome and honour Ex-international and  Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George after the exploits of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoir. The dinner which was hosted by Finidi George, who is also Enyimba's coach had journalists from different media outlets asking Finidi questions about his AFCON experiences, the Super Eagles, Enyimba and his time as a player and other questions on his experience as coach of the current NPFL Champions.  It was a moment to relax, learn and hear from the legend who has won the AFCON Gold, Silver and Bronze medal as player and coach.  The former Ajax winger would be in charge of his first game at Enyimba since returning from the AFCON when Enyimba host Gombe United on Thursday afternoon.

Lagos State FA Chairman Congratulates Manu Garba On His Appointment As Golden Eaglets Coach

  Lagos State Football Association Chairman, Hajji Liameed Olawale Gafar, has congratulated Manu Garba, on his appointment as the new head coach of the Nigeria U17 national football team, the Golden Eaglets.  Manu Garba's first tenure as Eaglets Manager saw him handling footballers such as Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac  Success, Francis Uzoho, Chidiebere Nwakali and Musa Muhammed to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup.   According to Hajji Gafar, he believes that this experience makes Manu Garba the ideal candidate to lead the Golden Eaglets to new heights. The coach who returns for his third stint with the team has been saddled with the responsibility of leading the current crop of players to next month's WAFU B U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
