Principal's cup will lead to discovery of new talents .... Sports Minister

 The revival of  the Principal's  Cup   which had lots of glamour in the 80s and 90s  would bring about the discovery of fresh talents.
Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr. Sunday Dare  reiterated that  the Ministry  revived the  Principal's cup in order to discover  and nurture new talents . 

According  to the Minister  " The National Principals Cup is back, one of the bedrock of grassroots sports development. The likes of Segun Odegbami,  Henry  Nwosu, Late Stephen Keshi, Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba , Joseph Dosu,  Tajudeen Disu, Ganiyu Ajide ,  among others were all products of  the Principal's cup and they all  donned the green white green  national jersey.

 The fact that we can discover young talents from  secondary schools and nurture them to stardom made us  focus on reviving the competition ”.. the Minister affirmed.

He further said “The Principal's cup is kicking off  soon across the Federation because talents  abound  everywhere.  The organizing Committe need to pay attention to details and  as much possible  scout for  talents that will be  useful to the country.”

“The Principal cup is not restricted  to only football but other sports  like Boxing ,  Badminton,  table tennis ,  and athletics.  This is to ensure  that  the competition stands the test of time with sustainable improvements.”.... he further asserted. 

 Mr. *Dare*  concluded by  saying “The Youth are critical to  sporting activities, so they must be discovered and nurtured early"

Sports Journalists In Aba Honor Finidi George in Post-Afcon Reception.

Members of the Aba Sports Journalists Forum(ASJ)  came out in their numbers to a dinner, to welcome and honour Ex-international and  Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George after the exploits of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoir. The dinner which was hosted by Finidi George, who is also Enyimba's coach had journalists from different media outlets asking Finidi questions about his AFCON experiences, the Super Eagles, Enyimba and his time as a player and other questions on his experience as coach of the current NPFL Champions.  It was a moment to relax, learn and hear from the legend who has won the AFCON Gold, Silver and Bronze medal as player and coach.  The former Ajax winger would be in charge of his first game at Enyimba since returning from the AFCON when Enyimba host Gombe United on Thursday afternoon.

Lagos State FA Chairman Congratulates Manu Garba On His Appointment As Golden Eaglets Coach

  Lagos State Football Association Chairman, Hajji Liameed Olawale Gafar, has congratulated Manu Garba, on his appointment as the new head coach of the Nigeria U17 national football team, the Golden Eaglets.  Manu Garba's first tenure as Eaglets Manager saw him handling footballers such as Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac  Success, Francis Uzoho, Chidiebere Nwakali and Musa Muhammed to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup.   According to Hajji Gafar, he believes that this experience makes Manu Garba the ideal candidate to lead the Golden Eaglets to new heights. The coach who returns for his third stint with the team has been saddled with the responsibility of leading the current crop of players to next month's WAFU B U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
