Sports Journalists Forum(SJF) Condemns Horrific Assault On Member.


The Sports Journalists Forum (SJF), a group containing some of Nigeria's finest sports journalists has condemned in strong terms a physical assault meted out to one of its members Tracy Suo Chappelle on Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Lagos.

Chappelle, a football commentator with SuperSport (Pidgin) and a full time broadcaster with Wazobia FM, Lagos was driving home from work on Sunday evening when a car rammed into hers from behind while observing a precautionary slow-down movement on the Lekki Expressway.

Not Suo, nor SJF, as a group could have imagined what ensued after the accident as the titled Chief from Delta state was beaten to a pulp by four occupants of the car that rammed into Suo's vehicle - three men and quite unfortunately, a pregnant woman - to the point that Suo's blood spilled all over her treasured car's interior areas.

SJF found the behaviour of Wisdom Moses - as the chief assailant identified himself as well as his animalistic cohorts - on Sunday night gravely disgraceful and distasteful, thereby condemning such acts in the harshest of tones, not just because it happened to our esteemed member, but because no human being should ever be made to receive such battery.

We must however commend the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) whose officers on ground that fateful evening effected the arrest of the ironically named Wisdom Moses and a couple of his other evil perpetrators on the spot and also ensuring their prompt arraignment in court.

SJF notes that the prompt intervention of the Police Force that night as well as their quest for Justice for Suo is a reassuring development to the Nigerian populace that our security apparatuses can still be trusted when it matters most and repose our faith in them to follow it through till the end.
While not willing to meddle in a case that is already in the court of law, SJF hopes that the arraigned assailants, including the one at large are made to face the stiffest possible punitive measures so as to serve as an example to others who have such barbaric tendencies in their genes, while also hoping that the pregnant woman gets her fair share in advance.

Sports Journalists In Aba Honor Finidi George in Post-Afcon Reception.

Members of the Aba Sports Journalists Forum(ASJ)  came out in their numbers to a dinner, to welcome and honour Ex-international and  Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George after the exploits of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoir. The dinner which was hosted by Finidi George, who is also Enyimba's coach had journalists from different media outlets asking Finidi questions about his AFCON experiences, the Super Eagles, Enyimba and his time as a player and other questions on his experience as coach of the current NPFL Champions.  It was a moment to relax, learn and hear from the legend who has won the AFCON Gold, Silver and Bronze medal as player and coach.  The former Ajax winger would be in charge of his first game at Enyimba since returning from the AFCON when Enyimba host Gombe United on Thursday afternoon.

Lagos State FA Chairman Congratulates Manu Garba On His Appointment As Golden Eaglets Coach

  Lagos State Football Association Chairman, Hajji Liameed Olawale Gafar, has congratulated Manu Garba, on his appointment as the new head coach of the Nigeria U17 national football team, the Golden Eaglets.  Manu Garba's first tenure as Eaglets Manager saw him handling footballers such as Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac  Success, Francis Uzoho, Chidiebere Nwakali and Musa Muhammed to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup.   According to Hajji Gafar, he believes that this experience makes Manu Garba the ideal candidate to lead the Golden Eaglets to new heights. The coach who returns for his third stint with the team has been saddled with the responsibility of leading the current crop of players to next month's WAFU B U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
