AIPS strongly condemns the "Special Military Operation" that has created an humanitarian tragedy in Ukraine

  In the face of the humanitarian tragedy that is hitting Ukraine hard, AIPS condemns Vladimir Putin's choice to launch what he simply called a Special Military Operation, which is shaking not only Ukraine, but the whole of Europe and the world.We are principally opposed to the use of violence as an instrument of oppression. 

With the upcoming Paralympics in Beijing (4-13 March), this Special Military Operation has also crumbled the Olympic truce, which sport had launched years ago as a tool for reflection and blocking the choice of using force to resolve situations that are certainly difficult, but which can be settled in another way. 

If we were to accept these violent, muscular behaviours, we would end up allowing others to open new fronts tomorrow. The role of us sports journalists is usually to ensure that the world of sport remains clean, free from certain viruses that infect our society, to protect the future of the younger generations to whom we must not teach that violence is the only tool to silence those who do not think like us. We ask that hostilities stop and immediately begins a process of recovering these human principles that have been trampled on.

Sports Journalists In Aba Honor Finidi George in Post-Afcon Reception.

Members of the Aba Sports Journalists Forum(ASJ)  came out in their numbers to a dinner, to welcome and honour Ex-international and  Super Eagles assistant coach, Finidi George after the exploits of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoir. The dinner which was hosted by Finidi George, who is also Enyimba's coach had journalists from different media outlets asking Finidi questions about his AFCON experiences, the Super Eagles, Enyimba and his time as a player and other questions on his experience as coach of the current NPFL Champions.  It was a moment to relax, learn and hear from the legend who has won the AFCON Gold, Silver and Bronze medal as player and coach.  The former Ajax winger would be in charge of his first game at Enyimba since returning from the AFCON when Enyimba host Gombe United on Thursday afternoon.

Lagos State FA Chairman Congratulates Manu Garba On His Appointment As Golden Eaglets Coach

  Lagos State Football Association Chairman, Hajji Liameed Olawale Gafar, has congratulated Manu Garba, on his appointment as the new head coach of the Nigeria U17 national football team, the Golden Eaglets.  Manu Garba's first tenure as Eaglets Manager saw him handling footballers such as Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac  Success, Francis Uzoho, Chidiebere Nwakali and Musa Muhammed to victory at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup.   According to Hajji Gafar, he believes that this experience makes Manu Garba the ideal candidate to lead the Golden Eaglets to new heights. The coach who returns for his third stint with the team has been saddled with the responsibility of leading the current crop of players to next month's WAFU B U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
