The 1996 Summer Olympics Hero, Emmanuel Amunike Endorse Gulf United Scholarship Showcase in Nigeria.

Barely 10 days to Gulf United maiden edition of African football talent hunt in Nigeria, Super Eagles legend and former coach of Tanzanian national team Emmanuel Amunike has endorsed the scholarship showcase.  The event which is expected to kick-off in two major cities in Nigeria, Abuja and Lagos from the 6th of August at the Area 3 football pitch has already enjoyed many endorsements from prominent personalities like Bitrus Bewarang, Nduka Ugbade and popular Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo. Speaking to coach Marcellinus Anyanwu, the one time African Footballer of the year winner in 1994 Amunike said:  "What you are bringing in Nigeria is a wonderful project, I admire the confident you have built among the lads in Nigeria. I have no doubt that the scholarship program will be a huge opportunity for talented players to play and study in Canada and USA. You are bringing great and good things to Nigeria my brother." COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF MEETING OF ABIA STATE CHAPTER OF THE SPORTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA, (SWAN).

The  monthly congress of the Abia State Chapter of  the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN)  has been held in Umuahia with some far reaching resolutions.    1. The meeting applauded the appointment  of Mr Christian Ejinwa as the state  Acting Director of Sports by the Okezie Ikpeazu led government and urged him to work hard in order to improve the standard of sports in the state. While commending the state government for its sound sporting policy which has led to many developmental strides, SWAN further reiterated the need for government to provide necessary tools to the new Sports Director to enable him discover budding sportsmen and women who would do the state and the nation proud. 2.
