Has Omeruo found a new life?

Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo has been ranked the best Nigerian player in the big five leagues in Europe (Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1) for the month of December. International Centre for Sports Studies -  CIES Football Observatory  has rated players on a match-by-match basis by taking into account the pitch production and efficiency at both individual and collective level. CD Leganes central defender Omeruo was the best rated Nigerian player at 75.3 and was 265th of the 751 players ranked.  Last month, Omeruo consistently delivered for CD Leganes in the Spanish topflight, helping the club remain undefeated with one win and three draws and went the distance in all the four matches.  The Super Eagles star was the standout performer for CD Leganes, going by the ratings and the 69th best footballer in Spain.  Udinese defender William Troost-Ekong made it into the list with a rating of 72.8 and ranked 374th.  Ola Aina (Torino), Wilfred

SODJE BROTHERS JAILED

  Efe Sodje, Stephen Sodje and Bright Sodje were handed jail terms in 2017 after the three Nigerian brothers defrauded their own charity. The Sodje Sports Foundation [SSF] was established in 2009 to cater for African children, or precisely, provide help for children in Nigeria. Former Nigeria international Efe, 46, and Stephen, 43, and ex-rugby player Bright, 52, were all found guilty of siphoning money off the foundation. According to prosecutor Julian Christopher QC, cash raised at black-tie dinners, auctions, charity football matches and a clay pigeon shoot was instead directed to Sodje bank accounts. Judge Michael Topolski QC told the defendants: "You have brought shame upon yourselves and your family." He further stated that, asides cash donations, "at least £63,000 can be shown to have been received by the fund."
